NOTICE TO REVIEWERS OF THE JUNE 2004 DRAFT
OF THE “GREATER FLAGSTAFF AREA
COMMUNITY WILDFIRE PROTECTION PLAN”
This DRAFT document is the result of a process initiated by the Greater Flagstaff Forests Partnership and Ponderosa Fire Advisory Council to develop a “Community Wildfire Protection Plan” (CWPP) for the Greater Flagstaff Area. Authorized by the Healthy Forests Restoration Act (HFRA) of 2003, numerous organizations and individuals have been engaged over the past several months in preparing our CWPP. We are circulating this DRAFT Plan throughout the community (Flagstaff, Timberline, Doney Park, Cosnino, Winona, Fort Valley, Parks, Bellemont, Kachina Village, Mountainaire, Munds Park, Mormon Lake, Oak Creek Canyon, Sedona, etc.) to solicit additional feedback and comments from any interested parties in order to prepare a final Plan for submission to and approval by local governments, fire jurisdictions and the State Land Department, as required by HFRA.
Our Community Wildfire Protection Plan was drafted in a future tense, i.e. – the text is written as if this is the final Plan as approved by the appropriate jurisdictions. The text may imply that an action has occurred, when it actually hasn’t but will be required for acceptance of the final Plan. Please be aware of this situation and prepare your comments accordingly. Once comments are received, the final Plan will also be open for additional comment when placed on the agenda of the Coconino County Board of Supervisors and City Council of Flagstaff, sometime in August or early September.
Comments on this DRAFT Community Wildfire Protection Plan should be submitted in writing (via mail, email or hand delivered) to either of the following individuals by the close of business (5:00 PM) on August 4th:
